lantern for less

I mentioned the beautiful lantern that I want from Urban Electric Company the other day and how I will probably never have it because of it's price tag.  But low and behold I walked into my sister in laws house last Saturday and she had an amazing lantern hanging in her kitchen.  At first glance I thought it might be from Urban Electric since they do have various styles.  I was a little jealous.  I asked her where she got it and she said...Pottery Barn.  No way!  Apparently I haven't looked at their lighting in a while.  So of course the first thing I do when I go home is hop on the Pottery Barn website and check out this lantern.  I just knew it was going to be crazy expensive.  But to my surprise, it's only $399.00.  What a steal compared to my dream lantern that sells for $3,070.00 and so stylish too!

It looks great in the picture but even better in person.  So now I am wondering if I should bite the bullet and just go for it.

Have you seen any great lanterns lately?

In love with a lantern

I have commented before on how my taste is way over my budget and this is no exception.  Why must I be head over heels in love with a lantern that I can't have unless I win the lottery.  Maybe once the kids are out of daycare...  No.  I still can't justify spending...are you ready... $3,070.00 on one hanging lantern.

Well, do you want to see it?

Don't you just love it?  I don't  have to have the light blue color, although it is beautiful.  I would be happy with it in any color.  Are you listening lantern fairy?

Chisholm Hall Lantern by Urban Electric Company

This is the Chisholm Hall Lantern by Urban Electric Company in Charleston and it comes in a ton of colors if you're interested in buying it for your home.  I have had my eye on it for a long time and finally figured out who makes it after I saw it on the Fificheek blog.  So glad I finally know where to buy it even if I can't afford it.  I'll definitely be putting this on my inspiration board.

Stripey Stripes

It's absolutely no secret that I love horizontal stripe walls.  I currently have 2 rooms in my house now that have horizontal stripes and am seriously considering painting them in my boys  room.  I just love the look.  Classic, graphic, clean and yet modern.  LOVE.

Seriously...

I am not someone that says OMG, but if I were I would be screaming it right now.  Who knew that Lilly Pulitzer had a furniture line?  I had no idea until the other day.  I was doing my normal blog browsing and stumbled across this...

and this...

and this...

Talk about love at first sight!

Well, naturally I want those yellow bar stools for my kitchen, so I started searching for a retailer and prices.  This is definitely one of those situations where if you have to ask, you can't afford it.  And I can't.  So sad because they scream me!  Why does my taste have to exceed my wallet?  Just in case your wondering.  You can order from the Lilly furniture line at Neiman Marcus and Horchow.  ...and the bar stools I love...$695.00 a piece.  Ouch!  The prices only go up from there.

It's still fun to look and maybe one day there will be a cheaper alternative or I'll win the lottery.
Either way a girl can dream...

S'mores

Indoor s'mores....  so good.  I made the best ones last night.

mcmullinfiberco.com

I'm sure this isn't a secret but it's the first time I've made s'mores with nutella and I love it.  I spread nutella on each graham cracker instead of a chocolate bar and then roasted the marshmallows on a fork over the gas burner until it was gooey perfection (you can roast marshmallows over an electric range burner too).  Then immediately slapped it between the nutella graham crackers and it was amazing!  I think it was so much better than a traditional s'mores.  The nutella was already gooey and I didn't have to wait on the chocolate to melt. This is perfect for an indoor camp out or just having a late dessert on a Monday at 9:30 which is what I did....after the boys were asleep.

Enjoy!

Same old couch

What to do with my same old tired red couch?  I am still having trouble figuring out how I want to decorate my lving room.  I have an older red couch but can't get a new one with the little children in the house.  Not practical.  I just can't decide on a color scheme.  I love bright and bold and yet I love calm and serene....and black and white with a pop.  I bought the Schumacher Chiang Mai dragon pillows in aqua to revive the couch and they did.  I love all the colors in the pillows but I am trying to decorate on a budget and not buy all new everything.  That's the biggest challenge.  I guess my next step is to just start finding pictures that I love and try and go from there.  Here's a pretty room with a red couch.

And then here's black and white...

Why am I being so indecisive about this?  It's not like I won't change it an a year anyway...
