Go Bold or Go Home

Yesterday I briefly mentioned wanting these artichoke lamps.  They are to die for but way out of my price range especially since when I buy a lamp I always buy 2.  For symmetry.

Here are the real artichoke lamps in all there colorful glory.
And way too expensive.  About $600.00 a piece.

Well, I have these lamps.

I know, I know, pineapples and artichokes are not the same thing, and this lamp isn't as colorful or nearly as wide as the other.  But I was thinking...thanks to Sherry at Young House Love, I can spray paint them and add a nice white drum shade and voila, new lamps.  That's the idea anyway.  I picked up spray paint primer and spray paint on my lunch today.  Hopefully tonight they will start their transformation into.....ORANGE pineapples.  I have a vision.  Hopefully it works but if not there's always lots of other colors to try.
I'll leave you with some more images of my inspiration.

In Love!

I posted recently about the new couch that I want, but seeing as how it's only available in South Dakota and they will not ship, I will be sticking with my current couch.  It's probably for the best with 2 small boys in the house anyway.  But I am still trying to redo my living room and make it new and fresh.  So, working with what I have will have to do for now. And what I have now is a comfortable but faded red couch.  Here's where new couch pillows come into play.  I have seen this fabric around on the Internet but never really paid that much attention to it until the other day when I realized that it is just what I need to bring my couch back to life.  Now, the fabric these pillows are made with is pretty expensive, but they are only pillows I'm not recovering the whole thing.  And when you think about the cost I'm saving it's a win win.

I'm in love...schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon in aquamarine.

Here they are.  Lovely.

Tailor Sofa
Maybe add some green trellis fabric...   I would love to add 2 of these artichoke lamps but at $600 a piece, not going to happen.  I do have 2 older gold pineapple lamps that I am thinking about spray painting orange or pink...maybe even yellow and adding white shades.  Who knows.  Anyway, the pillows are on their way to me from Etsy and the rest is a work in progress.  I'll keep you posted!

They also make this fabric as wallpaper. It's just as lovely.  Here's a bathroom redo someone posted using the Chiang Mai Dragon wallpaper in blue.

color coordinated books

I was lucky enough to hit up a great book sale last weekend at the Habitat Re-Store.  They had a ton of great hardcover books.  It was as many books as you could fit into a bag for $10.  So, I decided to get some for a little project I've been working on.  I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but that's exactly what I did.  I went through and grabbed any book that had a bright hard cover.  I ended up with 5 yellow, 3 teal and 3 purple.  They look great grouped together.  Now I just need to finish my cabinet where they will go.  In the meantime enjoy some photos of color grouped books.
